Signs on the wall, 2016

As Labor Day weekend kicks off, which for me officially means the sorrowful end of lazy, golden summer days, we celebrate the last shreds of vacations spent with a wonderful offering of SIX pages of your photographs. Thank you as always for sharing your work and for reading Lenscratch.

Valun

Valun, 2015

The pretty seaside hamlet of Valun, 14km southwest of Cres Town, is secluded at the foot of cliffs and surrounded by pebbly beaches. It’s appeal lies in its tranquillity: its restaurants are rarely crowded, and there’s a refreshing lack of souvenir stalls or touristy tack. … more on The Lonely Planet

Simple, clean patterned geometry detail of a service passage in National Gallery in Prague was calling for only a slight high-key treatment, much unlike the torture most of my photos are subjected to on their way to the gallery wall.

Dear Mr. Carniollus,

I am writing you today to announce to you that we have selected your piece entitled Retro Summer to be on our Top Tier list for the Summer Palette Art Competition.  This is not a list we publish for every competition. We compile it when the quality of the submissions warrants an extended list of art we want to promote. If I am writing you today, it is because the Jury saw something exceptional in your work. That’s why your piece is included in the top tier!

We think that making it on the Top Tier list is a great accomplishment and we want to reward that.

Within the following week or so, I will be publishing the Top Tier list on our site. This list will include: your art, your name, the title medium and dimensions of your piece, the paragraph you sent us explaining in your own words what your piece is about and a direct link to your web site.

Post-conceptual ultra-minimalist organic abstract, original digital UV print from digitally created source up to 300 x 300 cm.

Part of a larger body of work – post-conceptual ultra minimalist organic abstracts, which are, technically speaking, near-final digital deconstruction of source photographs in search of  a moment of tremendous discharge, the exact moment when the unity of pre-existing universe experienced its first schism as reflected in the memory of matter, a happy mishap of computer vision misrepresenting the reality and creative intervention of associative titling of the piece regardless of it’s origin.
